Lead UI/UX/Visual Designer

2018 - 2021

As a core member of the product team, development team, and lead designer at ImmersiveTouch, I wore several hats.

🧢 VR (Virtual Reality) UX/UI / Product Designer

Ultimately it was my job to understand and empathize with surgeons so I could translate their needs into intuitive UI designs for virtual reality surgical planning applications.

  • Designed case studies and used different research methods to drive data-driven solutions and designs.

  • Worked very closely with surgeons, business stakeholders, sales team, and surgical planning team to design user-centered product requirements.

  • Solutioned with and worked closely with the development team to bring designs to life.

  • Created user flows, storyboards, wireframes, mock-ups, prototypes, and production-ready assets.

👒 Visual & Web Designer

At one time, I was the only artist working at this startup. I was responsible for designing all the graphics, icons, and marketing materials. I also managed the website design and SEO.

  • Designed the brand guide, brand materials

  • Created a UI kit and asset library

  • Designed custom graphics and icons

  • Designed micro animations for UI interactions

  • Designed print materials, like banners for conferences and conventions

🎩 Process Enforcement

When I started working at Immersive Touch there was no design system, brand guide, no vision statement. No real process for product design, UX, or design in general. I built an asset library, UI kit, and brand guide. I tried to get the whole team on the same page so we could deliver products that were aligned as a brand and company. I introduced the team to Agile development practices and Kandban. I also tried to incorporate using epics and user stories.

I enjoyed being the lead—and sometimes only designer, at ImmersiveTouch. I got to wear many hats and put all my design skills to use.
